Our client is a leading oil and gas corporation headquartered in the APAC region planning to convert their 21 day classroom training program into 8 days of training with 20 hours of elearning.


Business Challenge


  • The client’s 21 day classroom training program had to be converted into 8 days of training with 20 hours of elearning 

  • The objective was to reiterate the learning from different subjects related to Petroleum Engineering  

  • The existing training content was incomplete and sketchy with the modules varying from each other

  • The Malaysia based SMEs were very busy leading leading to a big challenge in scheduling time for query resolution with the India based instructional designers 

  • The training had to hold the attention of young, tech-savvy petroleum engineering fresh graduates and ensure that they completed each module  

Solution Designed 


  • Local SMEs were hired to assist with creating the training content

  • Instructional designers were posted in Malaysia to interact with the client SMEs and get approval on the content, flow, and design

  • Highly interactive, level 3 scenario-based and level 4 game-based approach were used in accordance with the content complexity

  • A final assessment was created with a certificate being awarded on successful completion of the training

Business Impact


  • A pilot was launched before going live with the project which helped in addressing usability constraints

  • The 21 day classroom training program was successfully reduced into a blended learning program with 8 days of classroom training and 20 hours of elearning 

  • The training program was very well-received by the young, tech-savvy learners

  • The challenge of scheduling time for query resolution was resolved with the instructional designers posted in Malaysia instead of India

  • The training content was made highly interactive and engaging with both scenario and game based elements
